Why?Q: Does Simple Music make money off that stuff?Q: Can I get signed to Simple Music?Q: How can I become a featured artist?Q: Does Simple Music offer any intern/employment opportunities?A: Simple Music is a not-for-profit community of independent artists committed to creating and distributing personal music outside the commercial music industry.
Q: How can you afford to give music away for free? A: All free materials have been donated by the artists involved. The free cd service is our gift to you, and an attempt to demonstrate the seriousness of our commitment to independent, personal, music. Q: But why? A: Free tends to be shocking to people. And we like that.
Q: Some Simple Music artists sell their cds. Why? A: The decision to offer free material is made entirely by the proprietary artist. Many cds featured at simplemuzik.com are commercially available through personal contact with the artist or select retail establishments. Our artists have a variety of career and personal concerns that make such decisions necessary.
Q: Does Simple Music make money off that stuff? A: No. Since artists are self-financed, they retain 100% of all proceeds. Simple Music has no legal right or connection to the work of featured artists.
Q: Can I get signed to Simple Music? A: Yes and no (but mostly no). Simple Music is not a label in the traditional sense. We dont cut deals, deliver advances, or get involved in any aspect of financial transaction.Simplemuzik.com exists as an informational hub/marketing tool for artists without formal label affiliation. Featured artists are self-managed, and use the structure of the label as a framework to connect with like-minded songwriters, and potential fans.
Q: How can I become a featured artist? A: If you are interested in using simplemuzik.com as your interweb home, feel free to send mp3 links to submissions@simplemuzik.com (tell us a lot about you too, since that is very important to us). Please remember, however, that we remain intentionally small, and are only able to maintain a handful of artists at a time. As an alternative, we highly suggest starting your own, similar, independent label, and linking your site to our site. This sort of grassroots collaboration could yield a worldwide explosion of personal music, potentially transforming the commercial music landscape as we know it.
Q: Does Simple Music offer any intern/employment opportunities? A: Not really. Simple Music is 100% volunteer driven. If you enjoy Simple Music, and are interested in getting involved, contact us. |
